Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell like this with outcomes like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
