Red Cross Assists Militant Group in Recovery for Remains of Israeli Hostages in Gaza Strip

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirmed that its personnel joined members of Hamas into zones of the Gaza Strip still under Israeli military authority to facilitate the hunt for the remains of individuals held captive.

Truce Terms and Captive Remains Handover

As part of the truce negotiated by the United States, which took effect on 10 October, Hamas is obligated to return the remains of all captives as soon as possible. As a reciprocal measure, Israel has agreed to transfer the remains of 15 Palestinians for each Israeli.

The group has stated it does not know the precise locations of all the bodies, saying it has lost contact with a number of its units that had been holding the hostages and were allegedly killed during Israeli bombardments.
