The President Welcomes Families of Shot Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their memory.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, stated to the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the government to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” he told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
