A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The track blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The group managing the campaign have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
