The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Star for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a beloved, popular member has now been chosen.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. This character possesses the power to transform into an exact copy of any person they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the original manga and cartoon version.

This performer will work alongside several other new cast members tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, such as chief Sir Crocodile, brought to life by the well-known actor, a talented actress as a key member, and a familiar face, who also joins the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Even though Bon Clay is a important part of the organization, the character won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. With the next season set to cover the Little Garden arc, this signals a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.

Their mix of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
