Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have started production, with an additional eleven preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a domestically developed system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated successful “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Assault on Kyiv Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” following six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with Shahed drones soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.
